Duquesne at Navy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Interstat) — Two teams riding strong early-season starts will meet Sunday when the Duquesne Dukes visit the Navy Midshipmen in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at Alumni Hall.
Duquesne (5-2) arrives looking to rebound from its first loss in nearly two weeks, a 67-60 defeat at Liberty on Saturday. Prior to that, the Dukes had won four straight, including a 58-53 victory over Kent State on Nov. 24.
Navy (5-1) enters on a high note, coming off a 59-52 home win against Manhattan on Saturday. The Midshipmen’s only blemish this season is a 69-56 road loss to Richmond on Nov. 23. Their resume includes an impressive 69-54 victory over Florida on Nov. 16.
The game features a contrast in offensive production. Duquesne has shown explosive scoring capability, eclipsing 100 points in two of its wins this season. Navy has relied on a stout defense, holding opponents to 61 points or fewer in four of its five victories.
Sunday’s contest is the first of a two-game road trip for the Dukes, who travel to face Davidson on Wednesday. For Navy, it is the final home game before a two-game road swing starting at Radford on Thursday.
