UC San Diego at Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The UC San Diego Tritons look to continue their winning momentum when they visit the struggling Portland State Vikings in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday at Stott Center.

UC San Diego (3-3) enters the contest on a two-game winning streak, including a dominant 87-39 victory over Occidental on Monday. Sabrina Ma led the Tritons with 22 points in that rout, while Erin Condron added 17 points and Rosa Smith dished out eight assists. The team’s defense has been a key factor, holding opponents to 55 points or fewer in all three of their wins.

Portland State (1-4) seeks to halt a three-game skid after falling 71-63 at Utah Tech last Saturday. Despite the loss, Kyleigh Brown poured in a season-high 26 points for the Vikings. Their lone victory was a season-opening 89-52 win over Division III Willamette. Defense has been a challenge for the Vikings, who have allowed an average of 77.5 points in their four losses.

The game represents a final non-conference tune-up for both teams before the bulk of their league schedules begin in January. The Tritons will look to capitalize on their recent defensive form, while the Vikings hope home-court advantage can help them find a winning formula.
