Gardner-Webb at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. (Interstat) — The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers look to build on their most dominant performance of the young season when they host the struggling Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday.

The Chanticleers (4-4) are coming off a 103-61 rout of Jackson State on Friday, a game in which they showcased their offensive firepower. Gardner-Webb (2-6), meanwhile, fell 76-55 to the same Jackson State team on Saturday, highlighting the contrasting trajectories of the two teams entering the contest at the HTC Center.

Coastal Carolina has found its rhythm offensively in its two home wins this week, having also defeated Presbyterian 87-38 on Monday. The Chanticleers’ four losses have come against power-conference opponents North Carolina State and Virginia Tech, as well as BYU and Miami (Ohio).

The Runnin’ Bulldogs have lost three straight and six of their last seven. Their only two victories this season came against Hampton and UNC Wilmington. Gardner-Webb has struggled on the road, going 0-5 away from home, with their closest loss being a two-point defeat at UNC Greensboro.

In their loss to Jackson State, Kinsea Grimes led Gardner-Webb with 21 points, while Tateyoina Harris added 16 points and seven rebounds. Baylee Lowder recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The game is the front end of a quick two-game homestand for Coastal Carolina before it travels to Jacksonville on Dec. 6. Gardner-Webb continues a busy stretch, hosting Appalachian State on Monday.
