WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Saturday when the Howard Lady Bison host the Morgan State Bears in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup at Burr Gymnasium.

Howard (13-7, 3-1 MEAC) enters the contest riding a wave of momentum, having won three of its last four games to sit near the top of the conference standings. The Lady Bison are led by standout forward Zennia Thomas, who is averaging 14.4 points over her last five contests. Thomas posted a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds in a win at South Carolina State on Jan. 3 and scored 17 points in Howard’s most recent victory, a 69-61 win at North Carolina Central on Jan. 17.

Conversely, Morgan State (3-18, 1-3) is mired in a difficult season, having lost 15 of its last 16 games. The Bears are coming off a 78-52 road loss to Norfolk State on Thursday. Guard Jael Butler has been a bright spot, scoring 18 points in that defeat and averaging 11.2 points over her last five outings. Morgan State’s lone win since November was a narrow 64-63 home victory over North Carolina Central on Jan. 8.

The matchup pits Howard’s balanced attack, which saw Nile Miller and Ariella Henigan join Thomas in double figures last game, against a Morgan State team that has struggled offensively, failing to reach 62 points in 15 of its 18 losses this season.

Historically, the MEAC rivalry adds intensity, but the current trajectories heavily favor the home team. Howard will look to protect its home court and solidify its standing, while Morgan State seeks a desperately needed conference road upset to spark its season.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, in Washington. The teams will meet again in Baltimore on Feb. 28 to conclude the regular-season series.
