Temple Looks to Build Momentum at Tulsa in AAC Women’s Basketball Clash

TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — The Tulsa Golden Hurricane, off to a strong start this season, will host the surging Temple Owls in an American Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup Friday night at the Donald Reynolds Center.

Tulsa (10-4, 2-0 AAC) enters on a four-game winning streak, including a 76-73 road victory at Tulane on Tuesday. The Golden Hurricane have been led by junior guard Hannah Riddick, who is averaging 17.3 points over her last three games. She scored 22 points with three assists and two blocks in the win over the Green Wave.

Temple (7-7, 1-1) evened its conference record with a decisive 70-50 road win at Wichita State on Tuesday. The Owls are powered by dynamic guard Kaylah Turner, who is coming off a 36-point performance in a narrow loss to Princeton on Dec. 22. Turner averages 19.2 points per game and will be the focal point of the Temple offense.

The Owls have shown a high ceiling, scoring 88 points in a win over VCU, but have also been held under 60 points in four of their seven losses. Consistency will be key against a disciplined Tulsa squad.

Tulsa’s defense, which has held opponents to an average of 60.1 points per game during its current win streak, will face a test in containing Turner. The Golden Hurricane have found success with a balanced attack; alongside Riddick, Mady Cartwright scored 20 points and Dora Toman added 13 points and five assists in the Tulane victory.

Friday’s contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs. Temple continues its road swing at Tulane on Jan. 13, while Tulsa will travel to face East Carolina the same day.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
