Portland at San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — Two teams riding the momentum of strong non-conference finishes will meet Tuesday when the Portland Pilots visit the San Francisco Dons in a West Coast Conference women’s basketball opener.
The Pilots (7-6) and Dons (7-5) each enter conference play coming off a split of their final two December games. Portland arrives fresh from a 63-59 road victory at Saint Mary’s on Sunday, while San Francisco fell 74-65 at home to Oregon State the same day.
Portland’s Florence Dallow has been a consistent contributor. The player to watch for the Pilots is coming off an eight-point, seven-rebound, three-assist performance in the win at Saint Mary’s. Over her last five games, she has averaged 7.8 points and 3.2 rebounds.
San Francisco will counter with Candy Edokpaigbe, who has been a focal point of the Dons’ offense. She scored 14 points with six rebounds against Oregon State and is averaging 13.6 points over her last five contests. Her season high of 17 points came in a road loss at Arizona State on Dec. 6.
Both teams have shown offensive firepower at times this season. Portland posted a dominant 98-53 win at Portland State on Dec. 21, while San Francisco secured a 92-52 victory over Cal St. Monterey Bay on Nov. 30. However, each has also struggled against Power Five competition, with Portland losing at Oregon and San Francisco falling to Arizona State and Oregon State.
The matchup at War Memorial Gymnasium will be the conference opener for both programs as they seek an early edge in the WCC standings. Portland’s defense, which held Saint Mary’s to 59 points, will be tested by a Dons squad that has scored 68 or more points in five of its seven wins.
Tip-off is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025. Following this game, Portland will host Washington State on Jan. 2, while San Francisco opens a road trip at San Diego the same day.
