Niagara at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. (Interstat) — The undefeated Virginia Tech women’s basketball team looks to continue its strong start to the season when it hosts a struggling Niagara squad on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies (4-0) have won each of their first four games by double digits, most recently an 82-59 victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Carleigh Wenzel led the way with 23 points and 10 assists, while Kilah Freelon added 18 points and eight rebounds.

Niagara (0-3) is seeking its first win after a 92-45 road loss to Kent State on Sunday. Chasity Wilson scored 13 points in the defeat, the Purple Eagles’ third consecutive loss to open the season. Niagara has yet to score more than 56 points in a game this year.

The matchup pits one of the nation’s early high-scoring offenses in Virginia Tech against a Niagara team that has faced significant defensive challenges. The Hokies are averaging 83.3 points per game, while the Purple Eagles are allowing 90.7 points per contest.

This is the first meeting between the two programs. Virginia Tech will be heavily favored on its home court against a Purple Eagles team navigating a difficult non-conference schedule.
