Villanova at James Madison
HARRISONBURG, Va. (Interstat) — The James Madison Dukes look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the Villanova Wildcats in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday.
The Dukes (3-1) are coming off a 74-61 home victory over Liberty on Wednesday. Ashanti Barnes led the way with a dominant 29-point, 11-rebound double-double. James Madison’s lone loss was a 72-57 setback against George Mason.
Villanova (2-2) arrives after a narrow 73-68 home loss to Princeton on Wednesday. Kennedy Henry paced the Wildcats with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists in that contest. Villanova has shown a Jekyll-and-Hyde tendency, sandwiching blowout wins over VCU and Lafayette around a loss to Fairfield and the recent defeat to Princeton.
The game will be played at the JMU Convocation Center. It is the first of a challenging two-game stretch for the Dukes, who travel to face Texas on Wednesday. Villanova continues its early-season schedule at home against Temple on Nov. 22.
