Akron at Cleveland State
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — A stark contrast in early-season fortunes will be on display Sunday when the undefeated Cleveland State Vikings host the winless Akron Zips in a women’s non-conference basketball matchup at the Wolstein Center.
Cleveland State (3-0) has opened its season with dominant form, outscoring opponents by an average of 35 points. The Vikings are coming off a 97-24 rout of Pitt.-Johnstown on Wednesday, where Izabella Zingaro scored 18 points in just 10 minutes. Madison Royal-Davis recorded a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double in the win.
Akron (0-3) seeks its first victory after a challenging opening stretch on the road. The Zips fell 85-58 at Notre Dame in their last outing. Ni’Rah Clark led the team with 13 points in that contest, while Shaena Brew and Corinne Reed each added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Vikings’ defense, which has held opponents to an average of 47.7 points, will test an Akron offense averaging 60.7 points per game. Cleveland State’s early success includes a 68-61 road win at Cal State Fullerton.
Tipoff is set for Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025. Following this game, Cleveland State travels to Northwestern on Nov. 21, while Akron returns home to host Binghamton on Nov. 20.
