Marist Edges Holy Cross in Overtime Thriller
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Justine Henry scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Marist outlasted Holy Cross 78-77 in overtime in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday at McCann Recreation Center.
The Red Foxes, who led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter, survived a late push from the Crusaders to force the extra period. Jackie Piddock added 21 points for Marist, including the game-winning free throw with eight seconds left in overtime.
Kaitlyn Flanagan led Holy Cross with 16 points, while Simone Foreman added 19. The Crusaders outscored Marist in the paint, 34-20, but it wasn’t enough to secure the road victory. Marist improves to 1-3, while Holy Cross moves to 2-2.
