ROCK HILL, S.C. (Interstat) — Aubrie Kierscht scored 24 points and Cassie Gallagher added 22 as South Carolina Upstate defeated Winthrop 67-58 in a Big South women’s basketball game Wednesday night at Winthrop Coliseum.

The Spartans used a decisive 21-9 second quarter to build a lead the Eagles could not overcome, despite forcing 20 turnovers. South Carolina Upstate shot 53% from 3-point range, while Winthrop managed just 19%. Madison Ruff led the Eagles with 17 points. The Spartans avenged a two-point loss to Winthrop from Jan. 7. Attendance was 304.
