Colorado at Kansas State
MANHATTAN, Kan. (Interstat) — Two teams trending in opposite directions will meet Thursday night when the Colorado Buffaloes visit the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 women’s basketball matchup at Bramlage Coliseum.
Colorado (13-7, 4-3 Big 12) enters on a high note after a decisive 79-65 home victory over Oklahoma State on Sunday. The Buffaloes have won three of their last four conference games, showcasing improved form after a three-game skid earlier in January.
Kansas State (11-10, 3-4), meanwhile, looks to rebound from a lopsided 83-61 road loss to rival Kansas. The Wildcats have struggled for consistency in league play, alternating wins and losses over their past six contests.
The game features a compelling backcourt showdown between two of the conference’s top guards. Colorado’s Jade Masogayo is coming off a season-high 22-point performance against Oklahoma State and has averaged 14.3 points over her last seven games. Her scoring punch will be vital for the Buffaloes’ offense.
She will be matched by Kansas State’s dynamic Taryn Sides, who exploded for 26 points and five assists in the loss to Kansas. Sides has been a catalyst for the Wildcats, averaging 11.7 points and 4.1 assists per game this season. Her ability to create for herself and others will be key against a Colorado defense that has held three of its last five opponents under 65 points.
The Buffaloes hold the edge in the standings and recent results, but the Wildcats have been tougher at home, posting a 7-3 record in Manhattan this season. A win would push Colorado above .500 in conference play, while Kansas State aims to even its Big 12 ledger.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Thursday. The game will be a critical mid-season test for both teams as they navigate the heart of the conference schedule.
