Brown at Cornell
ITHACA, N.Y. (Interstat) — A surging Brown women’s basketball team will look to continue its strong start to Ivy League play when it visits a Cornell squad seeking consistency on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Newman Arena.
The Bears (10-4) enter with momentum, having won three straight games, including a dramatic 77-65 double-overtime conference victory over Penn on Jan. 10. Brown’s offense has been potent during the win streak, averaging over 80 points per game.
Leading the charge is guard Grace Arnolie, who is coming off a career-defining performance. In 46 minutes against Penn, she scored 24 points and dished four assists. This followed a 21-point, seven-assist outing in a win at Yale. Arnolie’s backcourt play will be central to Brown’s attack.
Cornell (7-8) has shown flashes but struggled against high-major competition, most notably in a 32-point loss at Stanford. The Big Red, however, is riding a three-game winning streak of its own, including a 106-27 rout of SUNY Delhi on Jan. 13. In that game, forward Ally Pape exploded for 24 points and 10 rebounds in just 26 minutes. Pape’s recent productivity provides a potential counterpoint to Arnolie, though her minutes in other conference games have been limited.
The matchup pits Brown’s efficient offense against a Cornell defense that has been vulnerable, allowing 66 points per game overall. The Bears will aim to control the tempo, while the Big Red will need to leverage its home court and interior presence, led by Pape and Ashley Childers, who had a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double last time out.
This game marks the first of a home-and-home series between the teams, who will meet again in Providence on Feb. 27. For now, both seek an early conference victory to set the tone for the Ivy League grind. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in Ithaca.
