Lady Frogs Edge Mountaineers in Defensive Struggle
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Interstat) — Marta Suárez hit a 3-pointer at the final buzzer to lift Texas Christian to a 51-50 victory over West Virginia in a defensive-minded Big 12 women’s basketball game Wednesday night at WVU Coliseum.
The Lady Frogs, who led 29-23 at halftime, survived a late rally by the Mountaineers. West Virginia’s Jordan Harrison scored a game-high 19 points, including two free throws with 2 seconds left for a 50-48 lead, before Suárez’s winner.
Both teams struggled offensively, combining to shoot just 32% from the floor. TCU’s perfect 6-for-6 performance at the free-throw line proved critical. Olivia Miles added 14 points for TCU, now 17-1. West Virginia fell to 14-4.
