Louisiana-Monroe at Mississippi State
STARKVILLE, Miss. (Interstat) — A pair of surging women’s basketball teams will meet Sunday when the Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs host the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at Humphrey Coliseum.
The Lady Bulldogs (6-1) enter the contest riding a two-game winning streak, most recently a 69-47 victory over Middle Tennessee on Tuesday. Madison Francis led the way with 17 points, six rebounds and six blocks, while Favour Nwaedozi and Chandler Prater each added 13 points.
Louisiana-Monroe (5-1) arrives in Starkville with momentum of its own, coming off a 62-47 win over Lamar last Sunday. Jazmine Jackson poured in a game-high 25 points in that victory, with J’Mani Ingram adding 14 points and six rebounds. The Warhawks’ only blemish this season was a 57-34 road loss to Sam Houston on Nov. 20.
The matchup pits Mississippi State’s consistent scoring, having topped 65 points in six of seven games, against a Louisiana-Monroe defense that has held four of its six opponents under 62 points.
The game is part of a challenging non-conference stretch for the Warhawks, who will visit Alabama and Indiana next week. Mississippi State will host Pittsburgh on Thursday before facing the Warhawks.
