Cal State Bakersfield at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to halt early-season slides will meet Thursday when the Omaha Mavericks host the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Baxter Arena.

Both squads enter the contest on losing streaks. The Roadrunners (0-4) are still searching for their first win after a 78-48 road loss to San Diego State on Saturday. Cal State Bakersfield has struggled offensively, failing to score more than 65 points in any game this season.

Guard Chrishawn Coleman has been a bright spot, coming off a 25-point performance against the Aztecs. Forward Tena Ikidi added 10 points and five rebounds in the loss.

The Mavericks (1-4) have dropped four straight since a season-opening win, most recently falling 77-69 at Utah State on Saturday. Omaha’s offense has shown more life, led by guard Sarai Estupiñan, who scored 26 points and dished out six assists in the contest. Forward Cora Olsen added 16 points and seven rebounds.

The game represents one of the more winnable opportunities on both teams’ early schedules as they look to build momentum before a tough stretch of upcoming games. Cal State Bakersfield continues a road swing at Wichita State on Saturday, while Omaha hosts Lindenwood.
