New Mexico at New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Interstat) — The in-state rivalry between the New Mexico Lobos and New Mexico State Aggies will be renewed Sunday when the women’s basketball teams face off at the Pan American Center.

New Mexico (3-1) enters the contest with momentum, coming off a dominant 99-65 home victory over New Orleans on Wednesday. Destinee Hooks led the Lobos with 18 points in that win. The team’s only blemish this season was a 59-84 road loss to a Power Five opponent, Colorado.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-1) are looking to build consistency after splitting their first two games. They opened the season with a 48-87 loss at Southern California but responded with a 78-61 home win over N.M. Highlands on Tuesday. Imani Warren recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the victory, while Lucia Yenes poured in a game-high 23 points.

The matchup pits the Lobos’ high-scoring offense, which has averaged 76.5 points per game, against an Aggies squad still finding its footing. The game will be a key test for both teams before each embarks on a stretch of non-conference games later in November.

Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon in University Park.
