CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — An early-season crosstown rivalry is set for Friday afternoon as the College of Charleston women’s basketball team hosts Charleston Southern at TD Arena.

The Cougars (1-0) are coming off a record-setting 135-41 victory over Covenant on Monday. Taryn Barbot led the offensive explosion, scoring 32 points in just 17 minutes of play.

Charleston Southern (0-1) looks to rebound from a narrow 86-84 overtime road loss to Jacksonville. Tyonna Bailey was a standout in the opener, pouring in 22 points and grabbing seven rebounds for the Buccaneers.

The game marks the home opener for the Cougars, who showcased a high-powered offense in their first outing. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers will aim for a stronger defensive performance after allowing 86 points in their season debut.

Following this matchup, College of Charleston will host Iona on Nov. 14. Charleston Southern continues a tough road stretch, traveling to face East Carolina on Nov. 11.
