ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Interstat) — Navy controlled play from the opening tip to defeat Colgate 66-38 in a Patriot League women’s basketball game Saturday at Alumni Hall.

The Midshipmen built a 35-13 halftime lead and never were threatened. Zoe Mesuch led Navy with 16 points, while Zanai Barnett-Gay added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Navy scored 40 points in the paint and forced 20 points off turnovers.

Lara Cook came off the bench to lead Colgate with eight points. The Raiders shot just 4-for-22 from the floor in the first half and finished with 18 turnovers.

Navy improved to 18-6 overall, while Colgate fell to 6-18. An announced crowd of 864 attended the game.
