Preview: Southern Indiana at Southeast Missouri State Women’s Basketball

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — A surging Southern Indiana squad aims to continue its climb in the Ohio Valley Conference standings when it visits Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

The Screaming Eagles (15-6, 7-3 OVC) enter the Show Me Center matchup having won five of their last six games, including a dominant 67-46 victory over SIU Edwardsville last Saturday. Southern Indiana’s success is built on a stout defense, which has held opponents under 70 points in 18 of 21 games this season.

They will be heavily favored against a Southeast Missouri State team (8-13, 4-6) that has struggled for consistency. The Redhawks snapped a three-game skid with a 71-56 road win at Eastern Illinois last time out but remain near the bottom of the conference.

Southern Indiana guard Chloe Gannon is a player to watch. The standout has scored in double figures in six of her last seven outings, averaging 13.9 points per game in that stretch. Her versatility was on display in the January win over Lindenwood, where she logged 44 minutes and recorded six blocks.

The Redhawks will counter with forward Kearra Jones, who is coming off a monster performance of 19 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Eastern Illinois. Jones has shown a high ceiling, posting two double-doubles in her last five games, but her production has fluctuated.

History strongly favors the visitors. In the teams’ first meeting this season on Jan. 8 in Evansville, Southern Indiana delivered a 77-46 rout. The Screaming Eagles have won three straight in the series by an average margin of 24 points.

For Southeast Missouri State, protecting home court is critical to salvage its season. The Redhawks are 5-4 at the Show Me Center this year. For Southern Indiana, the game represents a chance to solidify its position near the top of the OVC and continue building momentum for the postseason.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CST. Southern Indiana continues its road trip next week with games at Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech, while Southeast Missouri State travels to face SIU Edwardsville and Lindenwood.
