Bucknell at Colgate
Preview: Bucknell Bison at Colgate Raiders
HAMILTON, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two Patriot League women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Bucknell Bison visit the Colgate Raiders at Cotterell Court.
Both squads enter the Feb. 7 contest with struggling overall records. Bucknell (7-14) holds a slim edge over Colgate (6-15) in the standings. The Bison are coming off a 58-45 home victory over American on Wednesday, while the Raiders fell 59-35 at Army the same night.
The matchup features a contrast in recent form. Bucknell has won two of its last three games, including the win over American and a 62-51 victory at Boston University on Jan. 31. Colgate has lost five of its last six, with its lone win in that span a narrow 68-66 home triumph over Lehigh on Jan. 31.
A key player to watch for Bucknell is guard Tuana Coskun, who has been a consistent offensive force. She scored 21 points in the win over American and poured in a season-high 26 points in the victory at Boston University. Over her last seven games, Coskun is averaging nearly 16 points per contest.
Colgate will counter with guard Madison Schiller, a primary facilitator for the Raiders. Schiller dished out eight assists in the win over Lehigh and has averaged over 37 minutes per game in her last seven outings. Her ability to create offense will be critical for a Colgate team that has been held under 50 points in four of its last six games.
Historically, the Patriot League series has been closely contested. Both teams will view this game as a crucial opportunity to build confidence and improve their positioning before the conference tournament next month.
Saturday’s game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip-off. Following this contest, Bucknell will travel to face Navy on Wednesday, while Colgate will host Holy Cross the same night.
