Williams Lifts Wright State Women Past Fort Wayne in Horizon League Thriller

FAIRBORN, Ohio (Interstat) — Breezie Williams scored 28 points as the Wright State Raiders edged the Fort Wayne Mastodons 70-67 in a Horizon League women’s basketball game Thursday at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.

Williams, a 5-foot-5 guard from Canton, Ohio, keyed the victory for Wright State (7-17), which avenged a December loss to Fort Wayne (15-9). The Mastodons’ Jordan Reid led all scorers with 19 points, and Alana Nelson added 18.

Wright State used efficient shooting, making 10 of 20 three-pointers and 10 of 13 free throws, to overcome 19 turnovers. Fort Wayne dominated inside with 46 paint points and forced 12 steals but shot just 4 of 13 from the foul line. The Raiders closed the game on free throws by Olivia Brown in the final 10 seconds to secure the win before a crowd of 1,087.
