Colgate at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. (Interstat) — A surging Army squad looks to rebound from a rare conference loss when it hosts a struggling Colgate team in a Patriot League women’s basketball matchup Wednesday afternoon at Christl Arena.

The Black Knights (16-5 overall, 7-3 Patriot) saw a four-game win streak snapped in a 63-48 loss at Holy Cross on Saturday. Prior to that, Army had established itself as one of the league’s top contenders, boasting a dominant 81-49 victory over these same Raiders just over a month ago on Jan. 3.

Army will lean on guard Camryn Tade, who is averaging 15.3 points over her last seven games. Tade scored 21 points in a win at Lehigh on Jan. 28 and poured in 26 points against Loyola Maryland earlier in the month. Her consistency will be key as the Black Knights aim to tighten their defense after allowing Holy Cross to shoot 46% from the field.

Colgate (6-14, 2-8) enters with momentum from a narrow 68-66 home win over Lehigh on Saturday, which snapped a seven-game skid. The Raiders’ offense runs through sophomore standout Ella Meabon, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in that victory. Meabon has been a bright spot during a difficult season, scoring 20 or more points in three of her last seven contests.

Despite the recent win, the Raiders face a steep challenge. Their offense has frequently stalled, scoring 50 points or fewer in four of their last seven games. They will need more scoring support beyond Meabon to challenge an Army defense that ranks among the Patriot League’s best.

The Black Knights won the season’s first meeting in Hamilton by 32 points, forcing 22 Colgate turnovers and holding the Raiders to 30.2% shooting. Army will seek a similar defensive performance to sweep the season series and solidify its standing near the top of the conference.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday at Christl Arena. Army will visit Lafayette on Saturday, while Colgate hosts Bucknell.
