American at Bucknell
LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — Two Patriot League women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Bucknell Bison host the American Eagles at Sojka Pavilion.
Both sides enter with identical 6-15 overall records, though conference records were not specified. The matchup pits a pair of programs looking to build on rare recent victories. American snapped a three-game skid with a 70-60 road win at Lafayette on Saturday. Bucknell ended a two-game losing streak the same day, defeating Boston University 62-51.
The game features two of the league’s top offensive threats. American guard Molly Driscoll is coming off a season-high 22-point performance against Lafayette, adding five rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes. Over her last eight games, the standout junior has averaged 12.1 points and 3.4 assists, including three 20-point outings.
She will be matched by Bucknell’s dynamic scorer Tuana Coskun. The sophomore erupted for a career-best 26 points in the win over Boston University, showcasing her high-ceiling potential. Her recent play has been volatile, however, with scores of 5 and 10 points preceding that breakout performance.
In American’s latest win, Grace Koepke added 19 points and seven rebounds, while Charlotte Tuhy dominated the glass with 15 rebounds. For Bucknell, Desirae Ashton provided efficient support with 14 points against BU.
The venue may offer an edge for the Bison, who are 4-5 at home this season compared to a 2-10 road record for the visiting Eagles. With both teams clustered in the mid-standings of the Patriot League, this contest represents a critical opportunity to gain ground before the February stretch run.
The teams will complete their regular-season series in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 18.
