WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — The Hampton women’s basketball team earned a 60-48 road victory over UNC Wilmington on Friday night at Trask Coliseum.

The Pirates built an early lead with 21 first-quarter points and maintained control throughout the Coastal Athletic Association matchup. Hampton’s defense was pivotal, converting turnovers into 24 points while limiting the Seahawks to just nine points off takeaways.

Both teams struggled with shooting, but Hampton’s interior presence resulted in 28 points in the paint. The loss extended UNC Wilmington’s difficult season.

Attendance was 759. Hampton improved to 9-11. UNC Wilmington fell to 5-15.
