Oregon Looks to Sustain Momentum Against Rutgers in Big Ten Clash
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Interstat) — The Oregon Ducks aim to build on a decisive victory when they visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a Big Ten women’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Louis Brown Center.
Oregon (15-7) enters having snapped a four-game skid with an emphatic 89-59 win over Penn State on Saturday. The Ducks’ offense, which had struggled during the losing streak, found its rhythm as Sarah Rambus scored 20 points in 23 minutes and Katie Fiso notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.
Rambus, a key player to watch for the Ducks, has been inconsistent lately. Following her efficient 20-point outing, she was held to just two points in nine minutes in a loss to Minnesota on Jan. 21. Her performance could be pivotal for Oregon’s offensive flow.
Rutgers (9-11) seeks to rebound from a lopsided 76-48 nonconference loss to Washington on Monday. The Scarlet Knights have found wins scarce in Big Ten play, though they earned a road victory at Penn State on Jan. 18. Faith Blackstone has been a bright spot, averaging 12.8 points over her last six games, including a 21-point effort in a loss to Michigan.
The Ducks have shown resilience on the road this season, including a double-overtime thriller at Wisconsin earlier this month, but also carry losses in three of their last four away contests. Rutgers is 6-4 at home this season.
This game represents a critical opportunity for both teams as the conference schedule deepens. Oregon looks to solidify its standing, while Rutgers aims to climb back to .500 and gain a signature conference win. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday.
