Colgate at Boston University

BOSTON (Interstat) — Two Patriot League women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Boston University Terriers host the Colgate Raiders at Agganis Arena.

The matchup features teams with nearly identical records, as Boston University (6-12, 2-3 Patriot) holds a slim edge over visiting Colgate (5-12, 1-4). Both squads are coming off midweek games with contrasting results, setting the stage for a pivotal conference contest.

The Terriers snapped a three-game skid with a 66-55 road victory at Lafayette on Wednesday. The win was powered by a dominant performance from sophomore forward Anete Adler, who posted a career-high 27 points and 16 rebounds, adding four blocks. Adler, averaging a double-double in conference play, has emerged as a focal point for Boston University, scoring 15 or more points in four of her last six outings.

Colgate, meanwhile, arrives in Boston after a heartbreaking 44-41 home loss to American on Wednesday, its fifth straight defeat. The Raiders have struggled offensively during the slide, failing to reach 50 points in four of those five losses. A bright spot has been the consistent play of junior guard Ella Meabon, who recorded an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double against American. Over her last seven games, Meabon is averaging 16.1 points per contest.

The Raiders will look to break their losing streak by capitalizing on a Terriers defense that has allowed 64.3 points per game this season. Conversely, Boston University will aim to exploit Colgate’s recent offensive woes and build on Adler’s interior presence.

Saturday’s game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season. They are scheduled to meet again in Hamilton, New York, on Feb. 18.

Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST. Following this game, Boston University travels to face Navy on Jan. 28, while Colgate visits Holy Cross on the same date.
