Ohio Bobcats, Bowling Green Falcons Set for MAC Showdown
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Interstat) — A pivotal Mid-American Conference women’s basketball matchup is set for Wednesday night as the Ohio Bobcats visit the Bowling Green Falcons at the Stroh Center.
Ohio (11-5 overall) enters with momentum, having won six of its last seven games. The Bobcats are coming off a 66-62 home victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday, led by 15 points from guard Bailey Tabeling. Tabeling has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 16.1 points over her last seven contests, including a 21-point performance in a win over Eastern Michigan on Jan. 7.
Bowling Green (10-7) looks to rebound after a narrow 51-49 home loss to Miami (Ohio) last Saturday. In that game, guard Lauren Gerken led the Falcons with 11 points, three assists and two blocks. Gerken has provided steady scoring, averaging 11.8 points over her last five appearances, highlighted by a 15-point effort in a road win at Western Michigan on Jan. 14.
The matchup features two teams jockeying for position in the MAC standings. Ohio’s recent success has been fueled by efficient offense, scoring 71 or more points in five of its last seven outings. Bowling Green has relied on a stronger defensive identity, holding opponents to 54 points or fewer in three of its last five games.
Wednesday’s contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the schools this season. They are scheduled to meet again in Athens on Feb. 25.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026. The Bobcats’ next game is at home against Toledo on Jan. 24. The Falcons will host Akron on Jan. 28.
