BERKELEY, Calif. (Interstat) — The California women’s basketball team closed its nonconference schedule with a dominant 91-50 victory over Cal Poly on Sunday at Haas Pavilion.

The Golden Bears (9-5) pulled away after halftime, outscoring the Mustangs 57-28 in the second half. Cal Poly (2-10) kept pace early but was overwhelmed after the break. California’s balanced attack proved too much as it shot efficiently from the floor. The Mustangs were led by Vanessa McManus of Staten Island, New York, and Gabby Robinson of Yorba Linda, California.

An announced crowd of 1,596 watched the home team cruise to its ninth win. California opens Atlantic Coast Conference play next at North Carolina. Cal Poly begins Big West Conference action at UC San Diego.
