Fairfield at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa (Interstat) — The unbeaten and seventh-ranked Iowa women’s basketball team puts its perfect record on the line Sunday when it hosts a surging Fairfield team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes (7-0) are off to a strong start, showcasing a balanced attack. In their most recent 86-69 win over Western Illinois on Wednesday, Addison Deal led the way with 17 points and five assists, while Ava Heiden added 15 points. Iowa’s early schedule has featured notable victories, including a 57-52 road win at Baylor and a 64-61 triumph over Miami (Fla.).

Fairfield (4-1) arrives with momentum after a 79-60 home victory over New Haven on Tuesday. Kaety L’Amoreaux powered the Stags with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The Stags’ only blemish is a 68-82 road loss to North Carolina on Nov. 15, a game that demonstrated their capability to compete against high-major opponents.

The matchup presents a classic contrast. Iowa, a national powerhouse, will rely on its depth and home-court advantage. Fairfield, a perennial mid-major contender, will test its efficient offense against one of the country’s top teams. The Stags are averaging 76.4 points per game.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CST on Sunday, Nov. 30.
