Cal State Bakersfield at Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to halt early-season slides will meet Saturday when the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners visit the Wichita State Shockers in a non-conference women’s basketball game.

The matchup at Charles Koch Arena pits a winless Roadrunners squad (0-4) against a Shockers team (1-4) that has dropped four straight since a season-opening victory.

Cal State Bakersfield is coming off a 78-48 road loss to San Diego State on Nov. 15. Chrishawn Coleman led the Roadrunners with 25 points in that contest, while Tena Ikidi added 10 points and five rebounds. The Roadrunners have struggled offensively, failing to score more than 65 points in any game this season.

Wichita State looks to rebound from a 69-62 home loss to Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday. Abby Cater paced the Shockers with 15 points and six assists in the defeat. The Shockers’ lone win was a 96-42 rout of Lincoln on Nov. 3, but they have since faced tougher competition, including an overtime loss at Western Kentucky.

Both teams will be looking to build momentum before embarking on challenging stretches. Cal State Bakersfield travels to Arizona next, while Wichita State begins a two-game road trip in California.
