AVALON, Miss. (Interstat) — Mississippi Valley State erased a halftime deficit to defeat Lipscomb 72-68 in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday. The Devilettes used a 22-point third quarter to overtake the Bisons, who led 29-26 at halftime at the LeFlore County Civic Center.

Ariel Jefferson led Mississippi Valley State with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Elena Bertrand scored a game-high 21 points for Lipscomb. Despite shooting just 4 of 19 from three-point range, the Devilettes secured the win by outscoring Lipscomb 42-39 in the second half. The victory was the first of the season for Mississippi Valley State, while Lipscomb fell to 2-3.
