LUBBOCK, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas Tech Lady Raiders used a dominant first half and a balanced scoring attack to remain undefeated, defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks 80-68 in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday at United Spirit Arena.

The Lady Raiders extended their advantage in the second period, outscoring Arkansas 22-14 to take a commanding 43-27 lead into halftime. The Razorbacks found their offensive rhythm after the break, erupting for 23 points in the third quarter, but could not significantly cut into the deficit as Texas Tech maintained a 61-50 lead heading into the final frame.

Snudda Collins added 15 points, while Jalynn Bristow and Denae Fritz each contributed 12 points. Gemma Nunez recorded a double-double with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Arkansas was led by Taleyah Jones, who scored a game-high 20 points. Bonnie Deas was a force inside for the Razorbacks, just missing a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The game was ultimately decided by efficiency and ball security. Texas Tech shot 46 percent from the field, compared to 38 percent for Arkansas. The Lady Raiders also capitalized on Arkansas’s mistakes, scoring 21 points off 19 Razorback turnovers. Texas Tech committed 15 turnovers of its own, leading to 16 points for Arkansas.
While the Razorbacks won the battle on the glass with 40 points in the paint to Texas Tech’s 30, the Lady Raiders’ stingy defense and ability to convert on the offensive end proved too much to overcome. Texas Tech also held a significant advantage in assists and blocks, dishing out 15 assists and swatting five shots.
The victory extends Texas Tech’s strong start to the season, with all five wins coming by double-digit margins. Arkansas, which had opened its season with four consecutive wins, will look to rebound from its first setback.
