Wisconsin Edges Green Bay in Back-and-Forth In-State Women’s Basketball Showdown

MADISON, Wis. (Interstat) — Destiny Howell scored 23 points to lead the Wisconsin women’s basketball team to a 76-72 victory over in-state rival Green Bay on Sunday at Kohl Center. The Badgers erased a first-quarter deficit with a strong second period and held off a late push from the Phoenix to win in front of 3,330 fans. Both teams are now 4-1 on the season.

Meghan Schultz led Green Bay with 22 points. The Phoenix shot identically from the floor as Wisconsin, making 25 of 57 attempts, but the Badgers’ advantage from the three-point line and in converting turnovers into points proved decisive. Wisconsin had 12 steals and scored 20 points off Green Bay’s 15 turnovers.
