Jacksonville State at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — The undefeated Georgia women’s basketball team looks to continue its strong start to the season when it hosts Jacksonville State on Sunday at Stegeman Coliseum.

The Bulldogs (4-0) have dominated their early schedule, winning each game by at least 24 points. They are coming off an 85-49 road victory over South Carolina State on Thursday. Dani Carnegie led the way with 22 points and six rebounds, while Trinity Turner nearly recorded a triple-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Jacksonville State (1-2) arrives seeking to rebound from a 67-61 home loss to Southern Mississippi on Thursday. Despite the defeat, Adriana Jones turned in a strong performance, scoring 26 points. The Gamecocks’ lone win this season was a 92-35 rout of LaGrange on Nov. 3.

Georgia’s defense has been stifling, holding opponents to an average of 49.5 points per game. Jacksonville State, which averages 69.0 points, will need another high-scoring effort from Jones to challenge the Bulldogs.

This non-conference matchup is the first meeting between the two programs. Following this game, Georgia will host North Florida on Nov. 20, while Jacksonville State travels to face New Orleans on Nov. 22.
