Presbyterian at Elon

ELON, N.C. (Interstat) — The Elon Phoenix and Presbyterian Blue Hose, both seeking to get back to .500, will meet in a nonconference women’s basketball game Monday at Schar Center.

Both teams enter with 1-1 records after suffering lopsided road losses to Atlantic Coast Conference opponents this past Thursday. Presbyterian fell 78-41 at Wake Forest, while Elon was defeated 71-37 at North Carolina.

The Blue Hose are looking to reignite an offense that produced 113 points in a season-opening win over Warren Wilson but was stifled by the Demon Deacons. Ja’Cia Cunningham (8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Daniella Velez (9 points) were among the top performers in the loss.

Elon also seeks an offensive rebound after its overtime victory at East Tennessee State was followed by a cold-shooting afternoon in Chapel Hill. LaNae’ Corbett (10 points, 6 rebounds) and Ashanti Fox (9 points) led the Phoenix against the Tar Heels.

Monday’s contest is the first of a two-game homestand for Elon. Presbyterian continues a stretch of four straight road games.
