DENTON, Texas (Interstat) — The North Texas Mean Green look to build on a dominant season-opening victory when they host the Grambling Lady Tigers in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday.

North Texas (1-0) rolled to a 106-36 win over Oklahoma Christian on Monday. Tiffany Hammond led the way with 22 points and five assists, while Megan Nestor added 17 points.

Grambling (0-1) is seeking its first win after falling 96-70 at SMU on Tuesday. Zaria Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the loss, and Alieghya Bartholomew added 15 points.

The game at North Texas Coliseum pits two teams on opposite trajectories early in the season. The Mean Green’s offense was firing on all cylinders, while the Lady Tigers will need to shore up a defense that allowed 96 points in their opener.

This is the first of a two-game road swing for Grambling, which hosts Ouachita Baptist on Sunday. North Texas continues its homestand against Nelson on Nov. 13.
