Wright State at Robert Morris
Preview: Wright State Raiders at Robert Morris Colonials
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (Interstat) — The Robert Morris Colonials look to solidify their position in the Horizon League standings when they host the struggling Wright State Raiders in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup Saturday at the Charles L. Sewall Center.
The Colonials (17-11 overall) enter the contest having split their last four games, most recently falling 71-61 at Oakland on Feb. 21. They will rely on the consistent production of guard Eva Levingston, who is coming off a 21-point, six-rebound performance in that loss. Levingston has scored 19 or more points in three of her last five outings.
Robert Morris defeated Wright State decisively in their first meeting this season, a 74-53 victory in Dayton on Jan. 24.
The visiting Raiders (10-20) aim to halt a two-game skid, including an 81-55 home loss to Cleveland State on Wednesday. Their fortunes often hinge on the play of Claire Henson, who scored 20 points in that defeat. Henson has been a bright spot during a difficult season, averaging 13.4 points over her last eight games and dishing out seven assists in a win over Milwaukee on Feb. 18.
Wright State has shown flashes, winning three straight from Feb. 12-18, but has struggled with consistency. The Raiders are 3-7 in their last 10 contests.
Robert Morris holds a distinct advantage in the standings and will look to leverage its home court, where it is 9-4 this season. The Colonials’ defense, which limited Wright State to 53 points in January, will again be key against a Raiders squad averaging 64.3 points per game.
For Wright State, containing Levingston and finding secondary scoring behind Henson will be critical to pulling off the road upset.
Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The game is organized by the Horizon League.
