Miami (Fla.) at Florida State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Hurricanes visit the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball matchup, looking to complete a regular-season sweep and improve their positioning for the postseason.
The Hurricanes (12-11, 3-7 ACC) enter the 2 p.m. EST contest at the Donald L. Tucker Center having lost five of their last six games, including a 67-56 defeat at Virginia on Thursday. Despite the recent skid, they handily defeated the Seminoles 89-73 in Coral Gables just four weeks ago.
Miami’s offense runs through guard Gal Raviv, who is coming off a 13-point, six-assist performance against Virginia. In the Jan. 11 win over Florida State, Raviv orchestrated the attack with 13 points and nine assists. She has averaged 15.4 points over her last seven games.
Florida State (7-16, 1-9) seeks to halt a five-game losing streak, most recently an 83-55 loss at North Carolina State. The Seminoles have struggled defensively, allowing 80 or more points in four of their last six contests.
A key for the Seminoles will be containing Miami’s interior scoring, as the Hurricanes’ Ra Shaya Kyle added 13 points in the first meeting. Florida State will rely on forward Avery Treadwell, who scored 12 points against the Wolfpack, for rim protection and scoring in the paint.
With both teams near the bottom of the ACC standings, the game represents a critical opportunity to build momentum for the final stretch of conference play. Miami aims to solidify its .500-plus record, while Florida State desperately seeks its second ACC win.
