Tarleton State at Utah Tech

ST. GEORGE, Utah (Interstat) — The Tarleton State Texans look to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify their position in the Western Athletic Conference standings when they visit the Utah Tech Trailblazers in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at Burns Arena.

Tipoff is set for Jan. 31, 2026, in a rematch of a closely contested game from just two weeks prior. On Jan. 17 in Stephenville, the Texans (10-9, 4-2 WAC) held off the Trailblazers (6-13, 1-5 WAC) for a 64-60 victory.

Tarleton State arrives after a narrow 70-67 road loss at Utah Valley on Thursday, a game where guard Gia Adams poured in 25 points. Adams has been a dynamic, albeit inconsistent, force for the Texans. In her last six games, she has three performances of 20 or more points, but was held to just a single point in the previous meeting with Utah Tech. Her backcourt play will be central to the Texans’ efforts to avoid a letdown on the road.

Utah Tech seeks to end a five-game skid, most recently a 54-46 home loss to Abilene Christian on Thursday. The Trailblazers have struggled offensively during the slump, failing to reach 62 points in any of those losses. Forward Paige Cofer has been a bright spot, leading the team in scoring in three of the last four games, including an 18-point effort against Abilene Christian. She scored 10 points in the first matchup against Tarleton State.

The Texans have found success recently at Burns Arena, but the Trailblazers will be desperate to protect their home floor and gain momentum. Tarleton State’s defense, which held Utah Tech to 60 points and Texas-Arlington to 37 in its last two wins, will be tested by Cofer and a Utah Tech team looking for redemption.

A win would keep Tarleton State in the upper tier of the WAC, while a victory for Utah Tech could provide a crucial spark to turn around a difficult season.
