Preview: Eastern Michigan Eagles at Buffalo Bulls
BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Eastern Michigan Eagles, riding a two-game winning streak, visit the struggling Buffalo Bulls in a Mid-American Conference women’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Alumni Arena.
Eastern Michigan (9-9, 3-3 MAC) enters after a 72-62 home victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday. The Eagles have shown resilience, alternating wins and losses over their past six contests.
The Eagles are led by forward Sisi Eleko, who is coming off a dominant 25-point, 15-rebound performance against the Huskies. Over her last seven games, Eleko has averaged 18.1 points, showcasing her as a consistent offensive force. Support comes from guards Ainhoa Cea and Peyton Hill, who combined for 20 points and eight assists in the latest win.
Buffalo (2-17, 0-7) seeks its first conference victory amid a 10-game losing skid. The Bulls fell 84-74 to Kent State on Saturday despite a career-high 34 points from guard Aniya Rowe. Rowe has been a bright spot, averaging over 20 points per game in her last five outings. However, Buffalo has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 78.1 points during its losing streak.
The Bulls’ last win came on Dec. 19 against Tarleton State. Their conference woes include a 103-61 loss at Ball State on Jan. 14.
Historically, the series has been competitive, but the Eagles’ recent form and the Bulls’ defensive challenges set the stage for a game where Eastern Michigan will aim to capitalize. Buffalo will rely heavily on Rowe’s scoring punch to keep pace.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The Eagles continue their road schedule at Massachusetts on Feb. 4, while the Bulls host Central Michigan on the same date.
