Utah Tech at Tarleton State

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Interstat) — A pair of Western Athletic Conference teams seeking consistency will meet Saturday when the Tarleton State Texans host the Utah Tech Trailblazers in women’s basketball at Wisdom Gym.

The Texans (8-8 overall) enter on the heels of their most dominant performance of the season, an 81-55 home victory over Southern Utah on Thursday. Guard Gia Adams led the way with 20 points and five assists, bouncing back from a one-point outing in a loss to Abilene Christian on Jan. 8. Adams has been a focal point, logging 40 or more minutes twice in the last month and scoring 20 or more points in three of her last six games.

Utah Tech (6-9) looks to snap a two-game skid after falling 64-56 at Texas-Arlington on Thursday. The Trailblazers have struggled on the road, going 1-6 away from home this season. Their offense runs through guard Kaylee Borden, who is coming off a 23-point effort against UTA and has averaged 14.6 points per game over her last five contests.

Tarleton State has found a rhythm in Stephenville, winning three of its last four home games, including the decisive win over Southern Utah where Elodie Lutbert added 16 points and four blocks. Utah Tech, meanwhile, has lost four of its last five games overall, with the lone win a 65-54 home victory over Utah Valley on Jan. 10.

The matchup features contrasting styles. The Texans have shown a higher offensive ceiling, scoring 81 points in each of their last two wins. The Trailblazers have surpassed 67 points only once in their last five outings and will need to contain Adams and generate scoring beyond Borden to secure a road win.

This game is the first of two scheduled meetings between the programs this season. They are slated to meet again in St. George, Utah, on Feb. 21.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026.
