Mount Saint Mary’s Looks to Continue Momentum Against Manhattan

NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Mount Saint Mary’s Mountaineers visit the Manhattan Lady Jaspers in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup Wednesday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium.

Both teams are seeking consistency as the conference schedule deepens. Mount Saint Mary’s (7-8 overall) enters on the heels of a 55-51 road victory at Saint Peter’s on Saturday. Manhattan (3-12) is riding a modest two-game win streak after decisive road wins at Canisius (69-43) and Niagara (74-53).

The Mountaineers are led by guard Gabrielle Kennerly, who is averaging 18.8 points over her last five games. She scored 30 points in a win over Iona on Dec. 21 and had 14 points in the recent win at Saint Peter’s. Forward Amber Bullard, who added 13 points off the bench in that game, provides key support.

Manhattan counters with forward Colette Mulderig, who has been a dominant two-way force. She is averaging 16.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.8 blocks over her last six contests. She recorded a 24-point performance at Niagara and a 14-point, 15-rebound double-double in a win at Saint Peter’s on Jan. 1. Guard Elisa Solé Sanchez, who had 14 points and five assists against Niagara, is a primary playmaker.

While Manhattan’s record is underwhelming, its recent form suggests improvement, particularly on defense, where it held its last two opponents under 45 points. Mount Saint Mary’s has shown offensive flashes but has been held under 60 points in three of its last five games.

The Mountaineers won last season’s lone meeting, 68-59, on Jan. 20, 2025. Kennerly scored 19 points in that victory.

Following this game, Mount Saint Mary’s hosts Canisius on Saturday. Manhattan travels to face Fairfield the same day.
