Bowling Green at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. (Interstat) — A Mid-American Conference women’s basketball clash featuring two of the league’s top individual performers is set for Tuesday when the Bowling Green Falcons visit the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

Bowling Green (8-4) enters with momentum, winning its last five games, including a 73-69 conference victory over Kent State on Dec. 20. The Falcons have dominated their non-conference slate, with three of their last four wins coming by margins of 70 or more points.

Eastern Michigan (6-5) looks to rebound on its home court after a narrow 78-74 road loss at Ball State on Dec. 20. The Eagles have shown resilience, with earlier wins over Duquesne and Detroit.

The matchup will spotlight a compelling duel in the post. Bowling Green is led by Johnea Donahue, who is coming off a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win over Kent State. Over her last three games, the forward has averaged 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

She will be matched against Eastern Michigan’s formidable forward Sisi Eleko. Eleko has been a consistent force, averaging 19.3 points and 11.0 rebounds over her last four contests. She recorded a 15-point, 18-rebound effort in a close loss at Indiana and a 23-point, 11-rebound performance in the win over Duquesne.

The Falcons have relied on balanced scoring, with Kaia Woods (18 points) and Lauren Gerken (9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks) also key in the Kent State win. Eastern Michigan’s backcourt provides a potent complement to Eleko, as Fernanda Ovalle dropped 22 points and 5 assists against Ball State.

Tuesday’s game at the Convocation Center marks the conference opener for both teams. Bowling Green will aim to continue its hot streak on the road, while Eastern Michigan seeks to defend its home floor and even its conference record early in the MAC schedule.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
