Struggling Horizon League Foes Meet as Wright State Visits Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to reverse prolonged slides will meet Saturday when the Wright State Raiders visit the Milwaukee Panthers in a Horizon League women’s basketball matchup.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

Both programs enter on losing streaks, with Wright State (6-15) having dropped five consecutive games and Milwaukee (7-16) coming off a 20-point road loss at Cleveland State. The matchup represents a chance for either team to gain traction in the conference standings.

The Raiders are coming off a 74-53 home loss to Robert Morris last Saturday. Lauren Scott led the team with 15 points in that contest, while Grace Okih added nine points and six rebounds off the bench. Okih, a player to watch for Wright State, has shown flashes of production, scoring nine points in two of her last four appearances.

Milwaukee fell 66-46 at Cleveland State on Wednesday. The Panthers have relied heavily on the consistent play of guard Jorey Buwalda, who scored 13 points in that defeat. Buwalda has been a bright spot, averaging 16.3 points over her last three home games, including a 21-point performance in a win over Detroit on Jan. 22.

Recent history shows both teams have struggled defensively. Wright State has allowed an average of 78.2 points during its five-game skid. Milwaukee, meanwhile, has lost four of its last five, with its lone win in that span coming at home.

The Panthers will look to protect their home court, where they are 5-5 this season, including conference wins over Detroit and Cleveland State earlier this month. Wright State is 2-9 in road games and has not won away from home since non-conference play in early December.

Saturday’s game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to meet again in Dayton, Ohio, on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Following this contest, Wright State returns home to host Fort Wayne on Feb. 5. Milwaukee begins a two-game road trip at Youngstown State on the same date.
