Cal State Northridge at UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — The UC Davis women’s basketball team, riding high in the Big West Conference standings, will look to complete a regular-season sweep when it hosts struggling Cal State Northridge on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at The Pavilion at ARC.
The Aggies (14-6 overall) dominated the first meeting this season, winning 85-66 at Northridge on New Year’s Day. UC Davis has won seven of its last nine games, most recently an 81-68 road victory at UC Riverside on Saturday where Avery Sussex and Megan Norris each scored 21 points.
Sussex, a key player for the Aggies, averaged 15.4 points over her last five contests and had 13 points and five assists in the January win over the Matadors.
Cal State Northridge (6-12) enters on a five-game losing streak, including a 55-64 home loss to Hawaii on Saturday. The Matadors’ last win was a 77-68 victory at Cal Poly on Jan. 8.
Guard Erika Aspajo will be central to any Northridge hopes for an upset. She is coming off a 20-point, five-assist performance against Hawaii and scored 19 points in a road loss to UC Santa Barbara earlier this month. However, she was limited to just four points in 20 minutes during the January loss to UC Davis.
The matchup pits one of the conference’s top offenses in UC Davis against a Northridge squad that has been held under 62 points in four of its last five games. The Aggies’ balanced attack, featuring Sussex, Norris and Ryann Bennett, who had 12 points and six assists against Riverside, will test a Matadors defense seeking consistency.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST in Davis. The game will be broadcast locally on ESPN+.
Following this contest, UC Davis will host Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, while Cal State Northridge travels to face UC San Diego.
