Stetson at North Alabama

FLORENCE, Ala. (Interstat) — A key ASUN Conference women’s basketball rematch is set for Thursday night when the Stetson Hatters visit the North Alabama Lions at Flowers Hall.

The matchup features two teams heading in opposite directions entering the Jan. 29 contest. Stetson (11-8 overall) has won three of its last four games, while North Alabama (9-9) looks to build momentum after snapping a two-game skid with a narrow 63-60 win over Queens (N.C.) last Thursday.

The Hatters will be seeking a regular-season sweep after dominating the first meeting, a 76-59 victory in DeLand on Jan. 3. In that game, Stetson’s defense stifled the Lions, holding them to 32.8% shooting from the field.

A player to watch for Stetson is forward Aleah Sorrentino, who enters on a hot streak. She is averaging 16.3 points over her last three games, including an 18-point, 5-rebound performance in an 86-81 loss to Austin Peay on Jan. 24. Her versatility on both ends of the floor will be central to the Hatters’ game plan.

North Alabama will counter with forward India Howard, who has provided efficient scoring off the bench. Howard is averaging 12.5 points over her last four contests, highlighted by a 14-point effort in the win over Queens. Her production inside will be crucial against a physical Stetson frontcourt.

The Lions have found success recently at Flowers Hall, winning their last two home conference games by a combined five points. Protecting their home court will be paramount as they look to avenge their earlier loss and climb back to .500 in league play.

For Stetson, maintaining its offensive balance is key. In the Jan. 3 win, four Hatters scored in double figures, showcasing the depth that has propelled them above .500 this season. Containing Howard and forcing turnovers will be defensive priorities as they aim for a critical road victory.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Thursday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
