Princeton at Brown

Preview: Princeton Visits Brown in Key Ivy League Women’s Basketball Clash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Interstat) — The surging Princeton Tigers, boasting one of the nation’s top records, will face a test on the road Saturday against a Brown Bears team looking to solidify its standing in the Ivy League.

The women’s basketball matchup is set for Jan. 24 at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Princeton (16-1, 3-0 Ivy) enters on a 10-game winning streak, most recently surviving an overtime thriller against Harvard, 82-79, on Monday. The Tigers’ lone loss came in November, and their resume includes non-conference wins over Power Five opponents Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Brown (11-5, 2-1) saw a three-game win streak snapped with a 68-52 loss at Columbia on Monday. Prior to that, the Bears earned a notable double-overtime victory over Penn and a decisive road win at Yale.

A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top guards. Princeton’s Ashley Chea is averaging 15.0 points per game in Ivy play, coming off a 19-point, five-rebound performance against Harvard. For Brown, Grace Arnolie has been a consistent force, scoring 21 or more points in three of her last four games, including a 27-point outing in a win at Cornell.

Princeton’s defense has been stifling, holding opponents to an average of 55.2 points during its current streak. The Tigers’ balanced attack is complemented by forwards Fadima Tall and Olivia Hutcherson, who combined for 25 points and 13 rebounds against Harvard.

Brown will counter with Arnolie’s scoring prowess and a frontcourt anchored by Ada Anamekwe and Alyssa Moreland, who posted a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) at Columbia.

This contest marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. They will meet again at Princeton on Feb. 21.

A win would keep Princeton atop the league standings, while Brown aims for a signature victory to bolster its conference title aspirations.
