Alcorn State at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) — The Alabama women’s basketball team looks to extend its unbeaten start when it hosts Alcorn State on Monday at Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide (2-0) are coming off a 64-44 victory over McNeese State on Thursday, powered by a dominant performance from forward Essence Cody, who recorded 23 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks. Karly Weathers added 14 points and seven rebounds in the win. Alabama also opened its season with an 82-73 victory over Stetson.

Alcorn State (0-1), seeking its first win, is looking to rebound from a 72-66 season-opening loss to Nicholls State on Nov. 3. The Lady Braves were led in that contest by Nakia Cheatham, who scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Maya Claytor and Lauren Nelson each added 11 points.

The game marks the beginning of a challenging stretch for the Lady Braves, who will face LSU and Mississippi State later this month. Alabama, meanwhile, will host Alabama A&M on Nov. 17 in its next contest.

Tipoff is set for Monday night in Tuscaloosa.
