BOSLER, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Wyoming Cowgirls will look to bounce back from a season-opening loss when they host the Long Beach State 49ers in a non-conference women’s basketball game Friday at Arena-Auditorium.

Wyoming (0-1) fell 56-47 to Saint Mary’s at home on Tuesday. The Cowgirls’ offense struggled, shooting just 31.7% from the field in the defeat. They will aim for a more efficient performance against a Long Beach State squad playing its first game of the 2025-26 season.

The 49ers (0-0) last took the court in March, concluding their previous campaign with a 54-40 loss to UC Riverside. This game marks the official start for a new-look Long Beach State team.

Malene Pedersen, who scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds in the team’s final game last season, is expected to be a key contributor for the 49ers alongside Henna Sandvik and Logann Alvar.

The matchup begins a challenging road stretch for Long Beach State, which travels to face Colorado State on Sunday. For Wyoming, this is the second game of a three-game homestand before they hit the road for a game at Texas-Arlington next Tuesday.
